More Info About Me, San Marcos & Lockhart
I was born in Lockhart, Texas, grew up in San Antonio and graduated Southwest Texas State University. I’m a 5th generation native Texan whose roots go back to 1836 in Caldwell County. I’m from a farming family background and know the area well. As a licensed Real Estate Broker in Texas, I have participated in many residential, land and commercial sales of unimproved and improved property. I maintain offices in San Marcos as well as Lockhart to better serve my clients in Hays and Caldwell Counties, both of which have partnered for Economic Development. San Marcos is a "River City" with the headwaters of the San Marcos River forming in the heart of the town. It is also a "university" town with Texas State University. San Marcos is almost one-half way between Austin and San Antonio. It ranks number 2 in tourism in Texas, mainly due to the two outlet malls on I-35. The polulation is over 50,000.
Lockhart, the County Seat for Caldwell County, is on the cusp of growth with the completion of State Highway 130 by the end of 2011. It’s small town living at its best. Statistically, the cost of living is roughly 19% cheaper than living in Austin. Lockhart is only 25 miles southeast of Austin and very near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. It is only 17 miles northeast of San Marcos (home of Texas State University) at I-35, 15 miles to Kyle where there is a new Seton Hospital and 50 miles to San Antonio.
Personal Information
I hold a Masters degree from the University of Georgia; have taught real estate pre-licensing for 3 years; served as an expert witness; was president of the San Marcos Area Board of REALTORS in 2002. I am proud to be president of the Rotary Club of San Marcos, 2010-11, and live and work by the 4-Way-Test. I’m a member of Lockhart’s Kiwanis Club. I also serve on the Caldwell County Historical Commission as appointed by the County Judge and I am a member of the Lockhart Historical Preservation Commission as appointed by the Mayor and City Council.
Designations I have earned include Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), e-Pro from the National Association of REALTORS, and Graduate of the REALTORS Institute (GRI). I have some training in agriculture, having served as an information specialist for the College of Agriculture at the University of Georgia, where I met the scientists who created Tiff Bermuda Grass and other strains. I moved to Lockhart 4.5 years ago to be near my mother, after my father’s passing. I own land next to her where I have 3 miniature (pet) donkeys and a Texas Longhorn. I live in town in a 115-year-old home that holds a Texas Historical Marker.
